Jim Geiger is the founder and CEO of Cbeyond, an Atlanta-based company that provides managed voice and data communications exclusively for entrepreneurs. Jim built Cbeyond from the ground up to satisfy the communication needs of small businesses that don’t have the time or resources to contend with multiple service providers. Using its private Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network, Cbeyond provides local telephony, broadband Internet access, and a wide variety of related applications.
Cbeyond’s mission, “to be the last communications company a small business will ever need,” is also a personal mission for Jim, who believes strongly in supporting entrepreneurs as one of the most vibrant segments of our economy. With a constant focus on the customer, Cbeyond has enjoyed a 99 percent retention rate for more than three years running and continues to attract more than 30 percent of new customers from referrals.
The financial community now has a stake in Cbeyond’s strategy to serve small businesses after the company’s successful IPO in November 2005. That same month, Jim was recognized as Atlanta’s Telecom Professional of the Year.
Jim’s passion for Cbeyond and entrepreneurs also spills over into the communities where Cbeyond provides service. He encourages his employees to be good corporate citizens and to support the communities in which they live and work. To contribute to the community volunteer movement, Jim serves on the board of directors for the Hands on Network, a national organization that mobilizes volunteers and promotes civic engagements across the United States.
Jim is also a member of the Marist School Board of Trustees in Atlanta and has supported his local parish as a Sunday school teacher, volunteer leader, lector and Eucharistic minister.
