Fr. Ricardo Bailey

Parochial Vicar at Holy Spirit Catholic Church

Sponsored by Monica Giuseffi of Edward Jones

Father Ricardo Bailey serves as the Parochial Vicar at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Atlanta, GA. Alongside Pastor Monsignor Edward J. Dillon, Father Bailey shepherds a community of nearly 2,000 families in this healthy, vibrant and diverse parish.

Father Bailey appears weekly on radio station Q100’s The Bert Show. He has appeared on NBC’s Today Show and was named one of 30 leaders of the future by Ebony magazine in April 2005. Father Bailey has also been profiled in several publications including the Atlanta Journal & Constitution and the New York Times. Father Bailey is also Chaplain-in-Training for the Fulton County Police Department, Chaplain for the Auxiliary of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and Chaplain for the Atlanta Metro Serra Club.

Responding to the Lord’s call to serve His people, Father Bailey was ordained a Priest on June 7, 2003 for the Archdiocese of Atlanta. While his vocation comes from the Lord, his inspiration to serve came from two very important people in his life. First, from his mother, Elizabeth, who made Sunday church and daily faith a central part of their lives. Second, Father Bailey was inspired by the example set by Archbishop Eugene A. Marino, SSJ, the first Black Catholic Archbishop in U.S. history.

A native of Atlanta, Father Bailey received his primary school education at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Atlanta, Ga. and St. Thomas More Catholic School in Decatur, Ga.; he completed his high school studies at Shamrock High School in Dekalb County. Father Bailey was born on December 19, 1973 and was baptized at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on December 18, 1977.
